Fireproofing PVC pipe penetrations with mineral wool and acrylic sealant
This solution has been tested with PVC pipe Ø 32mm, with total penetration width of 60 mm and sealant’s depth of 15 mm.
Fire resistance: EI240.
Covering the PVC pipe
For fire-resistant covering of PVC pipe, the mineral wool is probably the easiest material to use in penetrations.
Sealing the penetrations
To ensure the fire-resistant sealing of pipe penetration before finishing works, an intumescent acrylic sealant must be used.
FireStop Intumescent Acrylic 681 – bright white acrylic-based intumescent sealant for fireproofing joints and sealing penetrations in fire-rated structures. Withstands fire up to 4 hours in a linear and piping joint. Can be painted.
