Quality Matters<\/strong><br><strong>PU Foam:<\/strong> First and foremost, quality matters. A good-quality foam has fine cells and uniform structure, therefore ensuring better insulating properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Foam Gun: <\/strong>Foam gun quality greatly affects foam yield and structure. Preparation<\/strong><br><strong>Surface Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Clean Well<\/strong>: Thoroughly cleaning the surfaces before starting work ensures maximum adhesion. Remove all traces of dust, grease, oil and loose particles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Limit Cleaning Afterwards<\/strong>: Protect adjacent visible surfaces with masking tape or other protective material. Never expose it to open flames or high heat, as the pressurised canister may explode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>3. Professional Application Techniques<\/strong><br><strong>Moistening and Shaking:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Moisten Slightly<\/strong>: One-component PU foam needs moisture to expand and cure properly. Do not skip this step!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/penosil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DSC04078-700x467.jpg\" alt=\"Moistening the joint before foam application\" class=\"wp-image-37818\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Safety First:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gloves and Glasses<\/strong>: Always wear protective gloves and safety glasses when working with PU foam.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avoid skin contact<\/strong>. If you do get uncured foam on your skin, remove it immediately either with <strong><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/penosil.com\/uk\/product\/industrial-cleaning-wipes-penosil-943\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Penosil Multipurpose Wipes 943<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/strong>, solvent or by scraping it off.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What Not to Do<\/strong>: Do not screw the can to the gun with the valve upside down or bend the can during screwing. Do not aim the gun at people and never smoke during application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Using the Gun Foam:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/penosil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gunfoam-700x153.png\" alt=\"Gun foam usage instructions\" class=\"wp-image-37822\" style=\"width:744px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Attaching the Gun to the Can<\/strong>: Hold the foam can upright and screw it onto the gun while holding the adapter in place with your fingers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Initial Foam<\/strong>: Before starting to work, extrude a small amount of foam (<strong>1\u20132 seconds<\/strong>) into a waste bin to clear any air bubbles or residue from the gun.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Upside Down:<\/strong> Always hold the can upside down when working with PU foam. You can adjust the extrusion speed and volume with the gun trigger and adjustment screw.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vertical Application:<\/strong> When filling vertical joints, always work from the <strong>bottom to the top<\/strong> in a <strong>zig-zag movement<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t Overfill:<\/strong> PU foam expands; only fill the joints partially. Overfilling is wasteful and creates unnecessary cleanup. Depending on the foam formula, the joints should be filled between <strong>50 and 70%.<\/strong> Check the filling rate on the product&#8217;s label.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Larger Joints:<\/strong> When filling larger joints, apply the foam in multiple layers and moisten slightly between each layer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Finishing:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Curing and Cutting<\/strong>: Only cut excess foam once it is fully cured. Cutting too early can collapse the cell structure. Keep in mind that curing time depends heavily on air temperature, humidity and joint dimensions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>UV Protection:<\/strong> PU foam is not UV-resistant.
