Concrete facade weathersealing with sealant

Concrete facade weathersealing with sealant

Sealing exterior facade joints protects the building against weather conditions such as sun, rain, wind, snow, etc. At the same time it also protects the facade against other factors, such as chemical and mechanical loads, that may eventually cause damage. The facade sealants main tasks are to protect the building’s structure against weather conditions, compensate for facade elements movement, and to guarantee building’s aesthetic appeal.

To ensure the proper size and shape of sealant in the joint and to avoid triple adhesion, a backer rod must be used.

Backer Rod PE 450 – round backer rod with closed cell structure. Highly flexible and compressible for easy installation

For long-lasting, weatherproof joints, a special facade sealant with high movement capability must be used to compensate for deformation in the joint without losing its elasticity or adhesion.

Facade Joint Hybrid 25LM – completely weatherproof facade sealant to protect the structure from UV radiation, rain or snow, and wind. Can be overpainted with water-based paints.

An alternative product is PU-Sealant LM 825 – polyurethane sealant with high movement capability and low elastic modulus. Suitable for sealing and insulating interior and exterior surfaces.
