Sealing window joints

To minimise heat losses in window connections, the joints between the window frame and wall must be sealed with a construction foam. For window installation, it is important to choose a PU foam that has an elastic structure and is therefore able to move with the building’s deformations and has excellent thermal- and sound-insulation values. Before applying the PU foam, the window must be mechanically fixed and supported according to the window manufacturer’s instructions. When applying the PU foam, the surfaces must be pre-moistened to ensure a uniform foam structure.

Elastic Gunfoam 198 – a one-component polyurethane gun foam for installation works and sealing of pressure sensitive, movable joints and penetrations.

Alternative products:

Installation Express 123 – a fast curing and high yield one-component polyurethane gun foam for window and door installation during the summer months.

Installation Gunfoam 65 156 – a high yield one-component polyurethane gun foam for summertime window and door sealing and installation works. Adheres well to most common construction materials such as wood, concrete, stone, plaster, metal, PVC and polystyrene. Ensures airtight and soundproof sealing.

Improving a window's wind-tightness

The window tapes help to protect the building´s structure and ensure a windtight connection between the facade and window.

Window Tape Full Glue +1 External 404 – an airtight and elastic double-sided tape for external use. Protects the building’s structure, window and door joints from moisture and wind penetration. One side of the tape is fully covered with a strong adhesive layer, while the other side has an acrylic adhesive strip. Double-sided adhesive layers guarantee an extra strong bond with the most common construction materials.

Alternative products:

Wind Proof Full Glue Tape External 414 – an elastic vapour permeable double sided wind barrier tape for sealing external window and door joints and protecting the buildings structure against moisture and wind. Covered fully on one side with a strong adhesive layer and on the other side with an acrylic adhesive strip.

Window Tape External 424 – an elastic vapour permeable wind barrier tape for sealing external window and door joints and protecting the buildings structure against moisture. Covered on one side with two adhesive strips and on the other side with an acrylic adhesive strip.
